Surrey Youth Talent Showcase

April 29 & May 6 | 7–8:30pm | Virtual Event

Join the Surrey Youth Talent Showcase hosted by the Youth Event Squad! Youth ages 13–18 will showcase their talent while everyone, including the performers, are having fun.

To participate:

Youth ages 13–18 can submit a 30 second to one minute video showcasing their talent in art, music and sport by April 23 by emailing youth@surrey.ca.
Your video may be picked as a finalist by the Youth Event Squad to be displayed during the event and you could win a $50 Guildford Mall gift card for participating.
Register to attend the event and celebrate youth talent in Surrey. All ages welcome to watch!

Cultivating Preteen Leaders

Join the Group Virtually Today or Thursday Afternoon

The Peer Mentorship Program is designed to provide preteens (ages 10–12) with meaningful virtual programming, in a safe and nurturing environment, that is free and open to everyone. Preteens explore topics that are important to them, build leadership skills and work towards a project online alongside peers, youth mentors and staff. Afterschool program starts April 6 and 8 at 4pm.

Join us every Thursday night at 7pm for a variety of topics including Pop Culture Trivia Night, Inside Scoop of the Surrey Animal Resource Centre, Flower Crowns with Backdrop Blooms and the Surrey Youth Talent Showcase. Video recordings will be available on our YouTube channel if you miss out.

Teen English Conversation Groups

April 8 | 3:30–4:30pm | Digital Branch

Practice speaking English in a fun and friendly online group setting for teens age 12–18. All teen English language learners are welcome. If you miss this session or would like to join again, be sure to check out the next session on April 22.

2021 Honey Hooser Scholarship

Deadline 4:30pm April 30

The City of Surrey has established the $500 Honey Hooser Scholarship to be awarded each year to a Surrey resident who is one of the following: 1) a post-secondary arts student, 2) a senior secondary student or 3) an individual with disabilities who has demonstrated an interest in arts and crafts. The purpose of this scholarship is to benefit the community by encouraging persons having an interest in arts and crafts to pursue studies in these areas.

You’re Done Highschool, Now What?

Youth Speak Up Workshop

The Surrey Leadership Youth Council (SLYC) is proud to present a Youth Speak Up Workshop. This workshop will explore the transition out of highschool and the stressors/anxieties Youth may experience during this time. Through a video presentation and group discussion, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions to a panel of individuals who have successfully navigated this transitional time.

Surrey Youth Provide “Service Above Self”

Honouring Youth Making a Difference

The SASSY Awards are provided by the Semiahmoo Rotary Club and aim to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of youth who exemplify “Service Above Self.” Youth aged 15–21 were nominated in six categories: Arts & Culture Leadership, Community Service, Environmental Leadership, International Service, Overcoming Adversity and Sports & Recreation Leadership. Attend the SASSY Awards Show at 7pm on May 5 to learn more.
