Have Your Say at the Youth Speak up Forum October 27 | 8:30am–3:15pm | Surrey City Hall Speak up and have your say! Are you a youth 13–18? Interested in helping make Surrey a better place to live? Come and discuss community issues at the 9th annual Youth Speak Up forum. Topics include: Shaping Surrey- Light Rail Transit (LRT) and transforming Surrey, community connections, and youth health and wellness. Lunch provided. Attendance qualifies for volunteer hours.  DiscARTed Crafts: Pumpkins  October 26 | 6pm–8pm | Newton Library Celebrate Halloween in the most environmentally friendly way! Turn discarded books into works of art, and create a decorative paper pumpkin for yourself or a loved one. The session is FREE and all supplies are provided so all you need to bring are warm hands and your imagination hat.  Sonic Pi Coding  Mondays | October 16–December 4 | 3:30pm–5pm | City Centre Library Sonic Pi is a disruptive new music education curriculum that engages kids through new technology. Real-time musical performances are made by writing programs that generate music and can be changed on the fly for a creative organic composition process. In this 8-week course youth are taught basic programming skills through fun explorative musical experimentation.  Youth Cooking Drop-In  Thursdays | 6pm–8pm | South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre   Love to cook? Love to eat? Whichever category you fit into, you are invited to our weekly cooking drop-ins. We provide the ingredients and recipes along with staff to guide you along. There is no registration needed so just bring your friends and head on down for some fun times and good food!  Releaf Community Tree Planting  October 7–28 | 11am–1:30pm | Various Locations Care about the environment? Want to get some volunteer hours and make new friends? Join us in your local parks as we grow Surrey’s urban forest! Plant trees and shrubs to help create wildlife habitat, improve air quality and make Surrey a more beautiful place for all of us. Lifeguard Info Session  October 10 | 6pm–7pm | Newton Seniors Centre Want to work for the city and save lives? Come join us for our lifeguard info sessions! Learn about opportunities for aspiring Lifeguards and Instructors in this information session. Find out about the training process and volunteer opportunities.  Community Art Planning Sessions  October 12 & 26 | 6:30pm–8:30pm | Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre Are you interested in group art projects and events? Do you want take leadership in your community? Come join Community Art! This is a great chance to meet new people and share your creativity. No art skills required, just come join the fun!  Have a Howlin’ Good Time  Halloween Pool Parties & Public Skates  Grab your costume and head out to one of our fun haunted public skates, or practise your water tricks and enjoy special game treats at our Halloween Howl pool parties! Bring your friends and enjoy fun activities across the City. Regular admission applies.
