BC Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May. It is a week of fun filled interaction and a celebration intended to build a strong connection between youth and their communities. These events are intended to highlight the interests, accomplishments, and diversity of youth across the province.

Surrey Emergency Notifications

Help Your Loved Ones Sign Up for Alertable Today

Surrey is now on the Alertable emergency notification network. Sign up using phone, email or the Alertable app today to receive customized emergency notifications. Stay safe and aware by planning ahead for large scale emergencies including potentially dangerous weather this summer.

Surrey Steps Up

June 3 | 5–9pm | Surrey City Hall – Centre Stage

Surrey Steps Up is returning to City Hall this year on June 3 from 5–9pm. If you are a youth who is stepping up in your community, register for a booth here to showcase the great things you are doing. Join us for fun activities, food, presentations and more!

Surrey Music Strategy

Survey Closes May 13

Calling all music lovers! A Surrey Music Strategy is being developed to support the short and long-term development of music in Surrey. Check out the Surrey Music Strategy community engagement website, provide pins to the Music in Surrey map, share your ideas and take the survey. Survey respondents will be entered to win a “Live Music for a Year” prize package valued at over $1,200.

Interactive Community Workshops

May 1 & 15 | 1–3pm | Surrey Art Gallery

Join visual artist Manjot Kaur for artmaking workshops inspired by Rajesh Vora’s exhibition Everyday Monuments. Participants are invited to share stories about home, place, belonging, and identity through performance and storytelling. SASSY Awards

May 4–7pm | Surrey City Hall – Centre Stage

The Service Above Self by Surrey Youth (SASSY) Awards in Surrey honour youth aged 15 to 21 who are living or studying in Surrey or White Rock and are making a difference in the community. The awards are provided by in partnership with the Semiahmoo Rotary Club and aim to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of youth who exemplify “Service Above Self.”

Online Youth Nights

May 19 | 7–8pm | Online

Are you interested in learning more about the money services that can be offered to you such as student loans? Join the Youth Event Squad and GrantMe for an Online Youth Night on Financial Literacy!

I Love MaySelf

May 14 | 2–4pm | Ages 12–18

Join us for an afternoon of self care and pampering! This is a free event where you can make your own candles, decorate a pot with a plant to take home and an option to paint and decorate your nails. Snacks provided for the event!

Soccer Skills Competition

May 7 | 2–5pm | Hjorth Park

With support from Guildford Athletic Soccer Club, youth will have an opportunity to partake in a skills competition. This will be accompanied with game play and introduction of walking soccer from partners in seniors. Prizes to be won.
